Sea Kayaking
Age 33
Hometown Squamish, British Columbia, Canada
Experience About 8 years now on both the river and the sea.
Achievements I have never competed in kayaking, but I have been dedicated to the sport for a number of years. I have completed some big expeditions and walked away from others. I think my single biggest achievement has been in consistently developing good peer groups to go paddling with. I have chased after coaching awards in the British Canoe Union, paddled numerous first descents, pushed the limits of what can be done in a sea kayak and developed the judgment necessary to paddle some of the worlds most demanding water. At the end of the day though, what has pushed me along the most is having quality team members and friends out there to share in the stoke of paddling.

Biggest Adventure This Fall after three years of scouting, myself, Todd Gillman, Shane Robinson, and Chris Tretwold completed a big project just an hour out of Squamish on Dipper Creek. We had been using the code name “waterfall creek” for a few years and kept everything on the down low. We did something like 6 scouting trips that required rappelling deep into the gorge and acesending back out. We kept finding more and more beautiful bedrock style steep drops inside one of the most committing gorges we had ever seen. The right wall rising 600 feet straight up from the river and left limited access. Despite walking away from the creek on previous attempts, we managed to complete the run this year. The creek drops 600 feet per mile through a tight polished canyon and is loaded with mandatory waterfalls. Absolutely incredible new run to have discovered in the backyard!
