Experience TR has been around rivers since he could walk. Regarded as one of the best river man in the world, his experience, motivation, and versatility has help to mold his 20+ years on the water. He is known for his numerous 1st descents on rivers and his ability to effectively and safely lead groups of kayakers down the most remote canyons in the world. His dedication and commitment to competition has earned him a spot on the U.S. Kayak team for two consecutive years. He is looked upon as an icon in the sport of kayaking, and he as appeared in many publications such as National Geographic and Canoe Kayak Magazine. Recently, Taylor has been dedicating his time to the current “fastest growing” water sport known as standup paddling or “S.U.P”. In 2009, he was selected to be a part of Surftech’s “dream team” joining the likes of such surfing icons as Laird Hamilton. His knowledge of the river has earned him a design consulting position with Surftech where he most recently had input on Surftech’s first river oriented S.U.P board know as the Blacktip. He has proven himself as a competitive S.U.P racer winning the American River S.U.P race 2 years in a row, placing 2nd in the 22-mile Tahoe Fall Classic, as well as placing 2nd in the Reno River Festival S.U.P class, where over 30,000 spectators were in attendance. He continues to push the limits in S.U.P by running some of the most difficult/steep rivers on a standup board to date, carrying on his tradition of notching 1st descents. Whether he is on his board surfing huge river waves or chasing 1st descents in California high Sierra Nevada in his kayak, there is no doubt Taylor is a proven river legend. His approachable personality and strong work ethic have allowed him to work and play within the water ports industry since 1996. Taylor will continue to up the bar in standup paddling as well as carrying on his legacy as one of the most accomplished kayakers to date.
Achievements My biggest achievement to date is being able to stay with this great sport for so long. I have over 20 years of experience on the water with many 1st descents and top placings at events across the globe..
