Ongoing circumnavigation and exploration of the Scandinavian continent. The Phoenician Trail. An exploration of the ancient sea trade routes of the Phoenicians by folding kayak (2008-2009). |
| Biggest Adventure | Japan Circumnavigation:
2004 was the worst year on record for Typhoon activity and we were to encounter six of these monster depressions, we also experienced the effects of an earth quake as we rounded Noto Hanto, on the North West coast of Honshu. The journey was to last for six months and we paddled approximately 6500 kilometers finishing with only hours to spare before our visas were to expire and we had to leave the country. We experienced a truly unique nation, rich in culture. We saw much wildlife including Grizzly Bears in Hokkaido but the fondest memories are of the many friends we made along the way, the kindness and generosity of the Japanese people was truly over whelming at times. |
| Hobbies and Charities | I also enjoy delivering inspirational/motivational presentations about my expeditions and other sea kayaking related topics. On any of my expeditions I try to promote the needs of several charities and in March of 2008 I embarked on an expedition to circumnavigate Scandinavia by sea kayak and ski. This expedition, as well as being an adventure, also serves to highlight the needs of several charities, the Ovarian Cancer Action and the Children's Hospice South West. |
