Italian sea kayakers Tatiana Cappucci and Mauro Ferro will explore by kayak all the islands of the Spanish archipelago. Ibiza and Formentera are the smallest of the Balearic Islands. Beautiful beaches and rocky cliffs are as famous as night raves in Ibiza and Formentera, but the Pityuses Islands also have an interesting history, a rich nature and a mild climate, where temperatures are mitigated by the constant presence of a strong breeze from the north.
Ibiza and Formentera, with their craggy coastline, are just off the Spanish mainland. Departing on December 24th 2010, the team plans to paddle around the islands, stowing the necessary equipment for a safe and self-sufficient expedition in the watertight hatches of their kayaks, as well as tents and stove on deck, to conduct the voyage in complete respect for the natural environment.
“We plan to complete the perimeter in about 2 weeks, with easy stretches of around 10-15 miles a day”, explains Tatiana. “We will paddle according to the weather conditions, making the most of the scenery only available to kayakers.”
